| Today's supply chains are increasingly vulnerable to disruptions due to natural disasters (e.g. hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and tsunami) and other external events (e.g. terrorist attacks, labor strikes, resource failures, transportation delays, and accidents). Organizations continue to underestimate these risks and fail to take appropriate measures to proactively mitigate these risks. During my Fulbright grant, I will develop stochastic and dynamic optimization models using managerial concepts of multiple suppliers, supplier redundancy, risk and revenue sharing contracts, and information sharing among others. In addition I will explore efficient supply chain strategies that can moderate the impact of disruptions on the performance of many Indian and U.S. companies. | |
